What are Music Levels?
Why Levels in Sheet Music?
Levels are an easy way to know which songs you can play, and when you can play them easily. Levels provide students a clear path toward playing the music they want to play. These levels are taught in the "Best Music Books for Beginners" Series, available anywhere you get your music books.
Why did you Create a Levels System?
- To give a clear path for students who just "want to have fun" and play songs that they love (Levels 1-5).
- To give a clear path for students who want to read at a professional level and exceed entrance requirements into collegiate modern music programs (Levels 1-7).
- To save music students, coaches, teachers, and parents of music students time and energy.
What was the Problem?
Many musicians or music students can "reach" to play a piece of music that has many more musical concepts or techniques than they are familiar with. This results in a very long learning process for the song because to be able to play the song, the student will need to learn:
- The new techniques
- The new techniques at speed (this takes the longest time)
- New chords/notes/rhythms
- New chords/notes/rhythms at speed (this also takes a long time)
- Putting the whole song together
This extended learning process has brought many talented students to a place of despair and even made some students quit making music. To stop this from ever happening to any music student ever again, we knew we had to make a levels system.
